New Smallville Updates
by Ron Cloer
(February
16th 2008) With the
writer’s strike over Smallville
fans have got to be wondering
when the capeless Clark and his
crew will be returning.
According to the CW new episodes
of Smallville will begin on
April 17th and will
include 5 new episodes. It’s
not a full season yet but it’s
something and April isn’t that
far away.
There is other
news coming out of Smallville,
Kansas involving one of the fan
favorites, Green Arrow. Justin
Hartley, who plays Green Arrow, has
been signed by the CW to a talent
holding deal. Why did they sign
him? Well, obviously they are
serious about using him in an
upcoming project. Let the rumors
begin!
My favorite theory is that the CW
has plans to spin off Green Arrow
and the other members of the Justice
League that we’ve seen on the show.
It’s not difficult to imagine a
Justice League show with Green
Arrow, Kid Flash, Cyborg, Black
Canary, Aquaman
with occasionally appearances by
Clark Kent. Sure the Aquaman
spinoff show didn’t work but who’s
to say this wouldn’t work? The
Justice League has a well known cast
and definitely offers some great
interaction.
Another
speculation is that positive fan
reaction is making the CW think
about a Green Arrow series. That
might be a more difficult
proposition because the supporting
cast around the Green Arrow’s comic
history isn’t as well known as
Superman’s or the Justice League.
The dynamic of Green Arrow and Green
Lantern would be an interesting old
school spin if the CW wanted a
conservative and liberal debate
every episode.
Now we wait to
see if and when Justin appears
onscreen. Whatever they choose to
do we will be watching closely.
