X-Men Origins: Wolverine – Snikt, Snikt, Bang, Bang

Wolverine walking Okay, so the title of the article is a little bit corny, but by all accounts it appears that the upcoming Wolverine spin-off is starting to build a bit of noteworthy buzz. X-Men fans will have to satisfy their thirst for heroes in spandex a little longer as the current Wolverine movie appears to be the closes thing to X-Men 4 that they will get for the time being.

Scheduled to be released in the summer of 2009 (May 2009 to be exact) and directed by Academy Award Winner Gavin Hood, X-Men Origins: Wolverine is intended to play as a prequel to the three X-Men movies in which Wolverine was featured. Although it isn’t exactly known what approach to the telling of Wolverine's origin the movie will take, or exactly how much of his origin will be included in the movie, it seems more than likely that the story will require a sequel itself in order to tell the complete story of who Wolverine is and how he got to be that way.

Sources indicate that Logan, who will again be played by Hugh Jackman, will be surrounded by a host of well-known Marvel characters. The list of possible heroes and villains who will make appearances in the movie is rumored to include Wolvie's arch enemy Sabretooth who will play a more significant role in this X-Men movie, as well as William Stryker, the Silver Fox, Agent Zero, Deadpool, the Blob, and the ragin' Cajun himself, Gambit.

Wolverine mad Set 17 years before the original X-Men movie, X-Men Origins: Wolverine is expected to focus most of its efforts on Wolverine's early days in Canada as a member of the Weapon X program.

Everyone's favorite hero from the north is certainly capable of delivering a great line or two, and fans won't have to wait much longer to see what old Logan has up his sleeve.
Snikt, Snikt.
